Welcome to my website!
I am currently student teaching in a grade 5 classroom, completing my last education practicum through the University of Lethbridge at Dr. G probe elementary in Lethbridge, AB. For my final Professional Development Project, I have chosen to focus on ideas aimed at developing students of all ages as
critical thinkers. By promoting this deep thinking, learning done in the classroom can be more meaningful and help develop insightful learners. Critical thinking skills are essential attributes and processes that aretransferable to life outside the classroom. They assist in making reasoned decisions and viewing concepts from multiple perceptions. The thoughtful process of of critical thinking has students using knowledge, background, questioning, formulas, hypothesis and other information to focus and make judgements based on that. Encouraging these processes will allow students to make broad world-wide connections whenever critically analyzing something. This abstract way of thinking helps students see the bigger picture, which will maximize the development of a learner.
My website is dedicated to educators who want to learn more about incorporating the promotion critical thinkers into their teaching styles. Included are some basic background information in addition to lessons completed during my practicum and other resources for all grades.
Enjoy :)
